MESEURO AISBL - Centre d'étude pour l'Europe de la Méditerranée | Centre for Mediterranean Europe Studies
MESEURO è il nome di un vento mediano che soffia tra lo scirocco e il levante. Noi vogliamo essere una forza di mezzo, che non si impone ma che congiunge.
Dear European and Mediterranean friends
MESEURO is a wind that blows in the Mediterranean from the southeast between the Sirocco and the Levanter.

The fact that it is unknown to many must not make it seem unimportant and its discreet breeze should not be confused with weakness.
Our ambition is that MESEURO grows to represent the gentle air which brightens the horizon by permitting us to see the challenges of the present clearer. We aim at guiding the Mediterranean coasts towards a prosperous future driven by common interests.
Thus, we have decided to give life to the Centre for Mediterranean Europe Foundations – MESEURO. Uniting our power embodies improved planning which in turn enables us to face the challenges of the Mediterranean area.
Italian and European history refers to the meeting of peoples and civilizations that were born and developed on the shores of the Ulysses Sea.
The Mediterranean Sea is, in fact, the cradle of great civilizations, from the Phoenician to the Greek, from the Roman to the Christian, not forgetting the Arab-Muslim civilization and the history of the Jews. This combination has created successful and unique episodes in art and culture.
The Mediterranean area is clearly a crucial hub for economic growth in the European Union.
Respect to the political and economical aspects, one could say that the Mediterranean has become a marginal area compared to key decision-makers regions of the world. However, this area is still considered strategic in determining the future of the world.
Here there are indeed many focal points and great questions and on their resolution depends, in part, world peace.
The Mediterranean’s political and cultural centrality has been surpassed in the modern age.
Its rich cultural tradition, deeply rooted in its religious experience, has taken a step backward.
Through the Centre MESEURO we intend to initiate a social dialogue, which presupposes reciprocal understanding and the promotes values founded in our civilization. Hence, successful cooperation, per se on a political level is an inevitable goal. This is to be reached through continuous search for dialogue regarding the security policy in order to develop increasingly incisive relations among interested nations. The second, but no less important level of cooperation concerns the economy. We are convinced that the increasing number of accords and exchanges have promoted and will continue to promote the extension of balanced economic and social relations.
MESEURO will be a meeting place for Euromediterranean organisations, institutions, businesses and their respective leaders and representatives. Additionally, it will act as a centre for elaboration for those who share our spirit. Thus, enabling to come up with innovative proposals on how to answer the numerous challenges of the Mediterranean area.
MESEURO will also be a protagonist of a new era of commitment to Africa where the fight against poverty can and should be a central point of EU foreign policy.
MESEURO is an ancient wind that will take us on a new Euromediterranean course.
